“These are challenging times, with unprecedented threats to our funding... When I say this is a lifeline, it's literally saving people's lives.”

— Jennifer Adams, CEO, Lumina Alliance

What if the doors to safety closed?

For thousands of survivors in San Luis Obispo County, Lumina Alliance is their only lifeline. But with federal funding at risk, nearly half our budget hangs in the balance—threatening the existence of our shelters, crisis line, and therapy services.

What’s at stake

Violence isn’t just a statistic — it’s a crisis affecting real people in our neighborhoods.

More than 1 in 4 women have experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime; that is over 35,000 women in San Luis Obispo County.¹

Approximately 26% of children under the age of 18 are exposed to domestic violence in their lifetime; that is close to 13,000 children in San Luis Obispo County.²

Without resources, cycles of violence continue. But with your support, we can change lives.

The Light the Way lifeline campaign seeks to raise $5 million over three years to:

  • Protect Critical Services threatened by federal funding cuts.

  • Advocate for Survivors as they face increasing social and financial challenges.

  • Sustain Life-Saving Programs that provide safety, healing, and prevention for women and those most at risk.

  • ¹ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

    ² U.S. Department of Justice
